This vice was invented in 1877 by Wilson Riley and Patented in 1880. Production went over to Massey in the USA who then stamped them up to be Massey No 17 LG.
This one is un-stamped so predates the Massey Versions, 1877-1880.
Ceased making these in 1896 when Parkinson's become more popular.
